Re: Tiers....
I think those sizes sound great. never actually done a square tiered cake, but bought martha's sqaure pan set at macy's the other day during a huge sale....so i have yet to break those in. My DH's 30th is june 1, so i am wanting to do a surprise party for him...thinking i'll use the square pans somehow...it would be my first real tiered cake too! Perfect time to practice!!!
I think though, with the 4 inches of difference, it will be the perfect amount around the outside!
be sure to let us know how it turns out!!!

Re: Tiers....
Those sizes will be fine. Have you stacked up your pans to make sure you like it? Make sure you post pix!! When's the wedding?

Re: Tiers....
Those sizes are great sounding especially in squares, well to me. D post pics but deff stack your pans to get an idea of how it'll look and make sure you have enough but not too much room for your decorations.

Re: Tiers....
I like having 4" spacing between layers rather than just 2".
I think it will work fine, but as others have said, stack your pans and look at it first. Because it's only 3 tiers and you're using such large sizes, I think it's probably going to have a sort of stocky, compact look to it.
Nothing wrong with that at all, as long as that's the look you're going for!

Re: Tiers....
I think that configuration will look great - is there going to be some kind of topper? Depending on how tall it is, that could help with any squattyness (is that a word?!?!? ).

I don't know if it's a word or not, but I was having a terrible time trying to find one that described what I was talking about! .gif)

Re: Tiers....
or you could make 2 -3 inch layers per size and tort each one. Then you'd have 4 layers of cake and 2 of filling in each tier. That would make them taller and serve more.
