Default just needing some answers

Ok so I have a bride coming over tomorrow to decide what she wants for her wedding cake due in may. She sent me a few pics of some cakes she is wanting, most of them are two tiered round cakes iced in butterrcream. She is asking for maybe a two tiered cake ready to serve between 75-100 people. I have only come up with two options for a two tiered cake to serve that many, an eight inch double layer on top of a twelve inch double layer or an eight inch double layer round on top of a twelve inch double layer square. Are there any more options out there for her? Please help, she is coming tomorrow and I am starting to stress!!

DON'T STRESS!!! It will all work out just fine.
Have you gone to earlenescakes.com? She has a wonderful chart that breaks down the servings and size options easy-peasy! You can print it out and show her for herself what her options are. If you have dummies, you can set them up to show her how the different sizes would look. If you don't have dummies, just bring out your pans and stack those up. Sometimes actually seeing how big (or small) a cake is will change their mind.
Let us know how it turns out!!
Good luck!!

thanks .. I went to earlenes site, but I personally though that her way of describing how to cut a cake was a little confusing, but maybe thats just me? Anyways, I went to the wilton website and was happy with how they show and tell you how to cut a cake so those are the sizes that she will be going by. It is hard to figure this all out!!!!!

I hear ya. I think I went to her site about 5 or 6 times before I really got it. Cake stuff is hard to put into words.
Her way of cutting really is much, much easier than the traditional "cut in a circle and then slice". Who thought that up anyway? And her serving sizes are a bit more realistic, too. But, as long as you have found a system that you are happy and comfortable with, that's what really matters! Your confidence will be apparent to the bride and she will, in turn, be confident in you!
Good luck tomorrow!!

I'm right there with you on the wedding cakes. The cakes aren't bad, but the brides are a huge pia!

It's hard to make money without them but thankfully the bulk of my business now comes from a party planner who gets orders for the larger tiered style cakes without having to deal with brides! Since I price tiered cakes all the same, I'm fine with never doing another wedding...ever!

I still love doing the everyday birthday cakes though..I know I'm weird, but I just love doing sheet cakes!

The square cake option is probably better since it will feed more than a 100 people. I used the wilton guide.
