I'm actually considering trying the sps support system on a cake I have due in February. I've read rave reviews on it and it's fairly inexpensive. This is a 3 tier wedding cake done with a Las Vegas theme.

I've always used wooden dowels with no problems, but this cake is a big, big deal for me.
The woman ordering it runs a party planning business. She does thousands a month just in cake orders alone. She had one cake for last month that was $1500. She's trying to convince her clients to switch to another baker and she wants me! This all came about because she saw the gift cake I did for my daughter last month.
At any rate, I think I'd like to go with something a little more finished and professional rather than wooden dowels and cardboard bases. There's nothing wrong with those, used them for forever, but I want these people impressed right down to the last tiny detail!
