I'm probably more new than you but what if you did it out of fondant, don't they have a impression piece that would look like lace then add the silver sparkles on top of it? I've never done it, but that's all I can think up off the top of my head.

Are you looking for an alternative to a ribbon, or a way to make an edible ribbon?

If you roll fondant really thin, and then brush it with luster dust or pearl dust the same colour, it really looks like ribbon!

LadyDZA, are there other ways of making edible ribbon? If so, please share! I would only think of using fondant. Or, fondant mixed with a bit of gumpaste.

Thanks!

Not sure if I'm too late or not but, you could try using sugarveil... spread it out into a sheet and then cut it with a pair of decorative scissors..

I have seen it done this way a few times and think its the best option to have it look more realistic as well as classy. Good luck!

cakedeco.com has a fondant ribbon you can buy that has an impression of butterflies, on that says happy birthday and a couple of other designs. They were really cool looking.
Cool other option and you can dust them for color effects too!
