Is it better to wait until the cake is completely cooled before trying to level the cake? Do the cakes stick to the wire racks?

I always put my cakes in the pan on a wire rack till they are cool enough to handle then I turn out onto the wire rack. I also use parchment paper in my pans and they never stick to the pans, and they dont stick to racks because I leave on the parchment till they are cool enough to wrap in press in seal and pop into fridge.
The best racks I have found have the lines going both vertical and horizontal, these keep them from getting the lines all across the cakes as they do cool.

If that were to happen...remember there's always simple syrup to add flavor and taste and moisture......besides who wouldn't use or want a complimenting flavor to their cake/?????

lol-very true!! I haven't tried a simple syrup yet but I want to for a strawberry cake. I've tried using strawberry extract in this recipe but it's just not strong enough. I have another idea I want to try first, then on to a simple syrup
