I was reading a nadine hurst book, contemporary wedding cakes, and she says for string work to use the corn syrup but not for any other work, like the cages and such you make to put on the sides. It can cause shattering with certain pieces when moved especially.
I would have though with the syrup the strength of the string when dried would be compromised. Guess not though hu?
I love and admire this type of work so much!
