String work is sooooo tedious! But very beautiful.

I was reading a nadine hurst book, contemporary wedding cakes, and she says for string work to use the corn syrup but not for any other work, like the cages and such you make to put on the sides. It can cause shattering with certain pieces when moved especially.
I would have though with the syrup the strength of the string when dried would be compromised. Guess not though hu?
I love and admire this type of work so much!

I agree! It takes a lot of patience especially when you first start. I guess you kinda get a rhythm after awhile.

Thanks for the link. I don't remember them telling us to use corn syrup in class. I did it on one cake with stiff icing. Worked out better then I expected.

I have several Australian mags and a a couple newer acds that have string work options, really neat to see.
