Default Is fudge considered a soft candy?

Would this be an area to post questions/comments about, for example, fudges and caramels and toffees, etc?

I've been searching for quite some time for a really good maple fudge recipe - a real, cooked fudge that uses milk or cream and that doesn't use marshmallow cream or sweetened condensed milk.

Although it would probably be dangerous - if I could make it myself, I might eat it all the time...

Any good fudge recipes, actually, would be welcome.

I'll give one of my own (what I call a "cheater" fudge, but it tastes so good anyway!)

Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge

2 cups chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups smooth peanut butter
1 can sweetened condensed milk

Put chips and peanut butter in large microwaveable bowl. Microwave on high for two minutes. Remove and stir until completely melted. Stir in sweetened condensed milk and stir until thoroughly blended and mixture starts to lose its gloss. Spread into an 8" square dish and cool. Or, eat it while it's still warm. I usually can't wait that long...

my MIL shared a recipe with me..I have never made this but plan to try it. She just gave it to me 2 days ago in fact.

1 stick butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 tablespoons hershey's cocoa powder/or to taste.

She combines all in double boiler and cook till soft ball stage and then por into greased pans and refrigerate.

I'll keep ya posted on this one.

I made the "Chocolate Cheese Fudge" recipe out of a Paula Deen cook book I have and it was really good. Here's a link to the recipe:
Recipes : Chocolate Cheese Fudge : Food Network
I made the four batches of this for Christmas things went to & everyone loved it & could not tell it was made with cheese until I told them.
