Butter Question - becuase I'm an idiot
Ok, I must have been having a blonde moment or something. On monday I went to the grocery store, and bought some stick unsalted butter and other items. Later that day, I went to get my butter out of the fridge, and I couldn't find it. I figured the bagger at the grocery store must have forgotten to put it in the bag.
Well, just now, I was getting a box of fruit snacks out of my pantry, and guess what was sitting right behind that box????? That's right, it was my butter! I must have accidentally put it in there when I was putting away all the boxes.
Anyway, my question is this...Is the butter still good? It doesn't smell bad or anything, and it isn't melted. The box does say it should be kept refridgerated though.
UHG!!!!!!!

Re: Butter Question - becuase I'm an idiot
I would think that it is fine. I don't like my butter in the fridge all the time(like for toast) so I always leave a stick out.

I would think it would be ok as you can leave butter out in butter dishes.....

My mom always have a stick of butter out, and it stays for a few days, until her and my dad have eaten all up, so it's still good!

Re: Butter Question - becuase I'm an idiot
That makes me feel better. I was hoping I didn't just waste $5.00!!
Unfortunately, for me this seems to be a common occurance. A couple of weeks ago, I had gotten a bulk pack of chicken breasts from the store, and forgot to take them out of the back of the truck (it has a cover over the bed of the truck). Anyway, I didn't remember that they were there until I went to make dinner that night. It was a hot day, and the back of the truck smelled soooooooo bad. My husband was just slightly peeved!!!
I also tend to have a habit of putting the peanut butter in the fridge, and the jelly in the cupboard...it never ends with me!!

I've even come home from the grocery store and brought the kids in....got them settled...checked the email, put in a load of laundry....sat down on the couch..OH YEAH! THE GROCERIES! And forget about them altogether!!! I'll blame it on the mommy brain. I am so easily distracted!

Re: Butter Question - becuase I'm an idiot
I once went to the grocery store in the afternoon, bought for almost 200$ worth of food, went back home. DH went to work, and we have only one car, and to remember at 8pm that I forgot to pick up my groceries at the pick up door at the back of the store. I had to call my dad and he came to my house to collect the grocery ticket, then he drove all the way to the grocery store to pick up my groceries. By chance there was no meat, nor frozen goods! just boxes and cans! My dad still laughs at me, 8 years later!
And once dh came home from work and asked me why I didn't bought cereals like I was supposed too, told him I did, and as I went to the pantry to look for them, I realized I've forgotten my grocery bags in the trunk of my mom's car! Called her and she came to my house to deliver my grocery bags!
I too blame this on the mommy brain!

Re: Butter Question - becuase I'm an idiot
That's hilarious! I've ran to the store to buy just a few things, and paid for them and grab my kids and head out the door...then get chased down by the bagger: "ma'am you forgot your groceries!!" oh, uh....hee hee thanks....and then run out of there as fast as i can.
