I saw on the news last night where Sam's is rationing rice to four bags and there is talk about flour being next. There isn't a shortage at this time, but there are so many countries that depend on rice as their only food source. I know here in Des Moines that the price of baking a cake has doubled in price since last year. Gas prices have jumped to $3.34 per gallon for the ethanol brand. I am going to be putting in a bigger garden this year. Going to be canning and freezing lots of produce for the coming winter. I will be like the grasshopper in the fable.
It's a false shortage for this country and they don't expect a shortage.
People are causing it themselves by panicking and running the the stores and buying it in huge amounts. Sams only rationed because people were being ridiculous and depleting their stock for no reason.
well there's food shortage being announced on the news here. we eat rice 3 times a day so we're really hoping it clears up within the next month or so.

That was my understanding..that in some countries where rice is a staple there are shortages, sorry you're having to deal with that! Sometimes you just have to wonder what's next?
wheat will prolly follow then corn according to analyst on cnn this after noon.
Insane with all the food in this world we could be short on it and people are starving other places all together? I dunno, it baffles me.

well my bf and i have a theory. that some people in countries like mine hoarded the rice so they could sell it to the US for a much higher price. it's sad and evil and cruel but it's possible. there's a lot of money grubbing people in the world
