I have this loyal customer. She always orders these really ugly cakes, that I hate making. But I do it, because she's always happy with the result. I have always charged her kind of middle of the road prices. She approached me about doing her son's college graduation cake. I'm going to do a chocolate transfer of the college mascot on a sheet cake. She was thinking that she wanted two cakes, the one with the transfer and one that is just plain, but decorated in the same colors to coordinate with the other cake. I quoted her, again, a middle of the road price for what she was asking for. She scoffed and said maybe she would only want one cake. I thought about it and called her the next day and lowered the price substantially (since she's loyal and has been with me from the beginning).
So I get an email from her today saying that she would want two cakes after all. But for the second one she wanted a carved book cake for her mother that has a (really long!) bible verse on one side and a happy birthday message on the other.
I emailed her back and said that I would be happy to do the book cake but that it would cost more as it would be very time consuming. UGHHHH! The nerve to go from a plain cake with shell borders to a carved book cake with a huge bible verse!!

thanks for letting me vent....
