I have always said I never wanted a store front bakery. I don't want a set schedule! I don't want to"have" to do cakes if I don't want to! I don't want to worry about making ends meet!
So what am I doing? I'm looking at buying a store front bakery!!!
I just happened to be driving through the downtown area of the small town my daughter lives in (and I was born in) and the bakery I went to when I was a little girl is up for sale! It's so cute and so quaint! It even has a little apartment living area in the back.
Just on a lark, I called the realty company and went to take a look at it...sort of just for old times sake. I fell in love and the price is fantastic! For the building and all the equipment and decorating supplies they're asking $40k. Even here, that's dirt cheap. The supplies he has in there are amazing...probably at least 2 dozen dummy tier cakes and literally thousands of decorative items, boxes, food coloring, sugars, icing sheets..you name it, it's in there. The walls are just crammed with "stuff". It has all the equipment, you could open the door tomorrow and operate out of it.
We've been checking into costs..utilities, insurance etc and they're all reasonable. When I started this insanity I was just sure I'd hit a roadblock that would stop the process and then I wouldn't have to make decisions, but so far everything is working out.
Ugh! I just can't make up my mind and I'm driving everyone insane so I thought I'd drive ya'll insane too! My daughter called today and said, "What you would say if I told you the for sale sign was down?". My response was, "Oh no!, You've got to be kidding me!!!" She said, "Well, if that doesn't tell you whether or not you should buy it, nothing will."
So, I may just be doing exactly what I said I never wanted to do! Is that as crazy as it sounds?????
Oh and thanks for "listening"!
