Why is it doing this? Is there anything i can do to make it look better?!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Sorry i left out details...Well in Cali we have been having some record breaking highs and tomorrow a record breaking low. Very wierd weather...Kind of like earthquake weather...Anyways. I get off work at 5 and i get home at 5:30 just enough time to change and take the cake to the party....I used a butter cream thaty I bought from a local cake supply store that i have used before. My mother in law thinks in might be the coloring, I used the Wilton (dum, dum, dum) gel colors...

we you get home can you smooth over again? after you smooth it, can you pipe a design around the cake? swirls, circles, squiggles??? i like to pipe (#5 tip) wavy stripes around the sides of a cake to give some spunk. you can do it in the same green or a different color. uuuuggghhh! i hate it when things take a turn like this!!

Ok, my fiance is at home and just sent me a picture of the cracks...Here it is. I can't do swirls or anything like that it's a boys cake and my friend said absolutely no swirls or anything of that nature! CRAP!
