Default cutters and such on sale

I went to Wal-mart last night to pick up a few last minute items, and they have all of the halloween cookie cutters on sale. I got most of the packs for three dollars or less. Also, over in the section where they have their "harvest" decorations (same aisle as all of the canning jars at our store" They have some leaves cookie cutters along with pumpkins, apples, and acorns. All of the are Wilton. They were also on sale really cheap. I immediately thought of Cindy and her leaves!
I actually made some leaves last night with the cutters and with some guick modeling with my gumpaste tools, I had about twenty or so in different sizes knocked out in under 30 minutes from start of getting out the supplies to finish. I dried them really well last night in the oven by just leaving the oven light on. It worked perfectly. I am going to airbrush them tonight. I was amazed at how quickly it went
Cindy, get to work on those leaves!!!!!!!! (said in my best nagging mommy voice )

Ha! Thanks for the shove Liki! I actually got them all cut out last night and they're drying now, just about all dried. I plan to airbrush them either today or tomorrow. AND...I made a dozen acorns to go on the cake as well. So, I'm all good. And you know what, after all my heeing and hawing, it really was easy and I had them cut out and made in less than an hour. I made about 100 of them. I originally posted somewhere that I'd ordered veiners without knowing the size, and they were too small for my cutters. So instead of hand drawing veins with a modeling tool, I just bought a few fake leaves at AC Moore last week and rolled them over my leaves with a rolling pin. Worked like a charm and they were much cheaper than those dang veiners that I'll never use!

What a fantastic tip about the fake flowers for veining Cindy! I'm SO GLAD you got them all done and it didn't take any time at all. Now you don't have anything else to be anxious about! Can't wait to see this cake!!!

Oooh what a great idea! Significantly cheaper than buying a bunch of veiners that you may only use once in a blue moon. Good on you for thinking outside the box! I'm off to buy some leaves now. Thanks!
