Default Blew A Bundle Today...

My Kitchen Aid washer decided to take a dump on me this week or rather one cycle and we could have it fixed but it's 18 years old and it wrecked a load so we decided to check out American because the ad they have going on. I really wanted the The Whirlpool Cabrio set with the steam dyer. Hubby and I couldn't totally agree and really hated to spend the $ just before Christmas but I gave in as along as I get to get this steamer I have had my eye on. We got the Frigidaire Affinity front load washer and dryer. We spent almost as much as either the washer or dryer as on the two pedestals! Looks like this will be our Christmas presents this year. No way on earth will I go to a laundry mat again especially with a 3 1/2 yr old!

Man...bad timing for sure!!
I kinda wish my washer and dryer would die so that I could get those new fancy schmancy ones...but I suppose if they did I'd have no way to pay for the new ones!! When we bought our set 8 years ago the most expensive model on the floor was like...$700. Boooyyy, have times changed!!

I am thinking that it may save you some money with all the energy efficiency features. It may pay for itself shortly compared to you old one. I hope that makes you feel better!! Also, check with your electric, gas whatever company because sometimes they give rebates on certain items. I remember we got one once for getting a new window AC that had the energy efficiency rating.

Your right about it saving $ in the long run. I know you can write the energy saving stuff off on your taxes. They were my first big purchase other than a car when I moved out on my own. We just bought a new fridge this summer too but that one was my hubby's. I like all the new gadgets but then again that's all the more to break too luckily my uncle repairs appliances. We may be getting a new addition to our family also.

We had to replace the washer and dryer last year. I thought about the new front loading machines but with just the 2 of us here now...I settled on the cheaper models like I have always have had. (gave me more $$$ to spend on cake stuff!!)
It really stinks when they break down and you can not do laundry. I will NOT go to a laundry mat hate it!

And... Keegan... did I detect that there might be a bun in the oven by your comment???

I can't have babies anymore or rather hubby can't but I'm not suppose to due to health issues. I have been really depressed about it especially since my sister in law had a baby this Aug. Anyway, I won't get into detail about it and my in laws I'm dreading the holidays! The addition I was talking about was a pug puppy I didn't want to jinx it. My hubby and I stopped by the pet store the other day and they happened to have a pug even a black one like I want. He saw how it cheered me up and knew how sad I have been plus dd would love a puppy. He found one on Kijiji for free just had to pay shipping but it turns out it's a scam now I'm bummed but glad we're not out any $. I wouldn't find if if it was a new oven( I HATE MY OVEN!) or if my KA got a sibling. We actually got a really good deal on the washer and dryer! My hubby found them in the bargain room actually scratches hardly even noticeable on the washer and they didn't match but are looking in other stores for a match. I don't care they are in the basement! One black one white I like zebra's so I'm cool if they don't. The dryer a customer said her pair didn't match the dye lot must be different well I don't think they have dye lots so whatever we got them both for $1000 the pedestals are what cost!

How are you liking your front loaders? We bought a set last weekend and I am just fascinated by them. I just spent 15 minutes watching the washer, wondering how on earth it's getting my clothes clean with so little water and not the tub-full-of-soapy-water-with-the-chugga-chugga-agitator that I've used all my life. LOL

I am LOVING my set though. Each load takes about an hour to wash but they spin the water out so efficiently that a whole load of big, thick bath towels dries in about 15 minutes so overall, each load from start to finish takes less time than my old set.

I really like them but they were sooooooo quiet I was convinced there was something wrong with the washer! Remember to write the washer off for your taxes for being an energy star. I guess dryers will never have that rating I can't remember exactly what he told but basically with the washers being so efficient that less drying is needed. I haven't done a load of towels yet but will soon! I washed as many loads as I could when we got them~ how pathetic is that?!
