Ive never even heard of ICES before this past month. My husband was so funny--I was telling him about it today and he said, "So what? Is that like cake porn or something?" I told him I think he's precisely right!

I've heard of it from the when I started because my instructor friend has belong for years & goes to the conventions for years.

I'll tell you you really have to check in your area for groups. I just found one here called the NJ Cake Decorators Club & went to a free workshop they had on Sunday. We made baby booties & sneakers (too cute). Great people, OF COURSE. There are is another cake group here which does a whole day thing like ICES does with demonstrators and they are reasonable. You really have to check. Talk to the instructors. Actually, I'll start a new thread & if you come across anything in your state, post it, this way newcomers will see it.

Jeri, I think they were just posting the link for those who hadn't heard of ICES.

As far as new things, what I noticed were Mike McCary's new Cakenology video on how to sculpt a 3D car. Bronwen Webber's "cake studies" - they were stands made of PVC that helped you build certain cakes. One was topsy turvy and the other was a stand to make a standing person. It was in the shape of a stick figure so you could use it for so many things. Not sure how new they were but it was new to me.

Paislies seem to be the "new" theme.

I'm curious to see if MTBaker found any new items to sell.
