Default no more white margarine for me!!!!!!

I'm going to cry and scream!!!!!!!

I do my BC with margarine only, and here there's only white margarine in stores here. For over 20 years the government made it illegal for margarine to be yellow because they wanted to protect the dairy farms(yellow margarine can easily be passed for butter) They said on the news that from now on, yellow margarine will be legal to sell here... and since white margarine cost more to do for them, All margarine will be yellow!!!! I sure hope one company will still do white margarine!!!!
What will I do! I love my bc recipe as it is, and it makes a really white icing!!!!!!

ARRRRGGGGHHHH I just needed to vent here!!!!!!!
thanks for "listening"

tastes like regular margarine, and really cheaper than butter....
They said on the news that they "might" keep some white margarine on the market because some people prefer it....

One I've learned from a pastry chef is that yellow margarine when beaten a lot turns white. So I'll have to try beating my bc longer just to see... But maybe I'll stock on white margarine just in case.... at least it freezes well!

could you just buy the yellow margarine and try whipping it to see if it will go whiter?
Maybe it's color change is due in part to air being incorporated into it.

Yeah I might try that... I just hope that it will take a long time before they hit the shelves....
I know something will work out, it always does, gotta stay positive... but it sured made me feel good to vent a little

I have never heard of white margarine! I don't use margarine in anything, I only use real butter. I love the taste of real butter. We used to churn our own butter when I was little. We had a cow and tons of cream so we all took our turn using the old butter churn. It was soooo yummy! I don't think we realized how much work it was to churn our own! Wish I had a cow now! It is more expensive but my customers LOVE the taste. If I have to have pure white buttercream, I just use shortning and tons of flavorings... I hate shortning. I use so much fondant that the buttercream is almost always covered up so the color does not matter... taste does!

Wow! That home churned butter must taste great! I remember someone bringing "real milk" straight from a cow & that was delicious. I probably couldn't handle it now.

Pootchi, what brand is that white margarine? I never noticed although the only kind I buy if I do is that cholesterol lowering one. Tough getting old!
