Should I do a 2nd follow up call on a job?
A couple of weeks ago, I applied for a job as a concessions manager. I waited a week before doing a follow up call on the position. The human resources lady called me back the following day and gave me a pre-screening interview. She also said that she still needed to do more pre-screenings and that I should hear back from her as early as this week.
So far I have yet to hear back from her. I'm just wondering if I should give her a 2nd follow up call to see where she's at with the position. And if I do call her for a 2nd time, should I do it tomorrow (Friday July 10), or should I do it early in the upcoming week? I don't want to come off as desperate or needy, but I also don't want to miss out on this job as I feel that I'm qualified.

Re: Should I do a 2nd follow up call on a job?
Puzzlegut,
You should call her and let her know that you are still interested. After your interview did you send her a Thank You note for the interview? This is proper etiquette. Before retiring I was the Equal Opportunity Officer for the State of Iowa and part of my job was to conduct job interviews. There would be times that I would have over 100 applicants applying for a Clerk position. So, it was nice when a applicant would take the time to send a Thank You note for the interview. It showed that they really were interested in the job. I hope that you get this job since you are so interested and have the background. Good Luck.

I thought about sending a thank you note. But since it was just a pre screening thing, I figured that I would wait and send one after doing a real in person interview, assuming that I got one. Now I just need to figure out if I should call her on Friday or wait till early in the upcoming week to call.

Such a fine line between eager and pushy, huh?
I would call earlier rather than later. If she said "early next week" and she didn't call, I don't think Friday is too soon.
Good luck with it. I hope it works out!

I too would call on Friday, since she said she would let you know early in the week.
But anyway, I wish you good luck with that job, and be sure to keep us posted

Yeah Friday would have to find me calling, I am not good at waiting and if someone says they'll let me know early in the week by friday I am on that phone.

Re: Should I do a 2nd follow up call on a job?
Thanks. It sounded like she would have called me back, but I guess it wasn't absolutely certain. She said the earliest that I would have heard from her would have been this week. So I don't know if it would be too presumptuous if I called her today or not.

Re: Should I do a 2nd follow up call on a job?
Well, if she said the earliest would be this week, then I'd wait till Tuesday at least. That gives her this week and Monday to respond back.
I didnt realize you said the earliest would be this week.

If it was me, I would still call today just "to check in and see if there is any more information you could provide them with"
