Gumpaste Flowers Anyone???
Does anyone use gumpaste much? I have messed around with it, made some roses, seashells, small projects... but I am fascinated with the beauty of the gumpaste flowers! I was messing around the other day and decided to try the cala lily.... I purchased the cutters from Marcela Sanchez. Here is my result.... I went a little nutso... made 30 of them! It is addicting and once you get going... you want to make another! I only spent around 3 hours making 30 so they go fairly fast once you get going! As you can see... some of my pistols are a bit too long... and I have not put any luster dust on them yet. I know the cala lily is the easiest of all to make but I am excited to try some more... I might have to bust out and buy another DVD or Book!!! What an excuse to purchase more supplies! These photos are not real great but here is my attempt!

Re: Gumpaste Flowers Anyone???
Great job Jeri! I have a calla lily cutter & the Wilton set of cutters & roller in the bag but haven't had much time to try them. I probably should spend the time on them & keep a supply like the Royal icing flowers. I never did the calla lily. Tried a rose & chrysanthemum which were ok.

The glitter is acutally wilton yellow sanding sugar. I made the pistols in a real light yellow tinted gumpaste and didn't like how light they were so I brushed them with a little gum glue and rolled them in the sanding sugar. I was surprised how they turned out. Now to perfect them!

Cherish those family times! And never put cake decorating ahead of your family! You will have plenty of time when they are grown... that is what I did... put my cake decorating on a 20 year leave of absence while we raised our kids and now... I am back into it full swing! My kids encouraged me to pick it back up a few years ago and it was like I never put down my tools. Instead there are so many more cool things to do now! Makes it more fun!

Re: Gumpaste Flowers Anyone???
Great job on the flowers. I want to take the Wilton fondant and gumpaste class that they offer. They have the classes at Michael's for 1/2 price plus the cost of supplies. Maybe someday I can do it.

Re: Gumpaste Flowers Anyone???
I just watched a tutorial on you tube... I think her name was Edna. I watched it a couiple of times then did them. The cala is easy though... I have done roses & seashells but they too were easy. I want to learn how to color them. That seems like the real art to me!
