If I want a darker color I have been known to add a touch a black coloring to the butter cream to darken it, or a dark brown also. I use powdered coloring as it does not effect the consistency of my icing.

Hi, can anyone help? I heard that substituting oil for butter in cakes/cupcakes makes them alot moister....saw it from a baker on Bobby Flays throwdown. Is that true and if so how do you do the substitution and what type of oil. Thinking of doing this with cupcakes, sometimes they are too dense. help help girls

I use olive oil in my baking at all times for any oil or butter sub, but I'd use veggie oil or olive for sure.

This icing can be left out on a cake and I have never had any problems with it.
This does crust and has a fudgey chocolate taste. You could use any type chocolate to make this...so play with it and make it your own.
Where do you get the vanilla bean paste?

cake shops, on line mostly. I buy a big bottle for me to use because I use it a lot. So I get a big bottle for 35.00 instead of paying for a 4 oz. bottle for 9 to 12 bucks a piece.
