Rolled Buttercream
The Ingredients
2 cups Crisco
1 cup white Karo syrup
1 1/2 tsp. flavorings
1/2 tsp. popcorn salt
7-8 cups (4 pounds) powdered sugar
The Method
Mix together the first 4 ingredients. Add about 3 pounds of the sugar and add the last pound gradually as needed to achieve nice smooth dough. This can be mixed by hand or a very heavy mixer. I usually use the Kitchen Aid paddle the first couple of minutes and then change to the dough hook to finish mixing.
