I won't do character pans anymore. I did one. That was enough for me!
I hate the "just something simple!" sheet cakes. Somehow those are the most difficult for me. I like to make tiered cakes, fondant figures and extra embellishments and stuff like that. I hate when people say, "I don't know, just a cake for 30. It doesn't have to be fancy or anything..."
But, I shouldn't complain because at least they're coming to me and not Wal-Mart!

OMG ~ you guys have really put things into perspective for me!

When I get to say, rose number 60-something on this cupcake order and am bored out of my head, I will remember that I could be doing stars on character cakes and that'll snap me back to reality!!

I don't do charater pans. What I do when they ask for a specific character, I make a sheet cake and put a FBCT on it. Easier and prettier! But what I prefer to do is 3D cakes. And lately people are asking for 3D cakes! That I love! or when they want a csimple cake but tell me that they trust me for coming up with something great! Those who let me do what I want always know that they're getting something more then the others do! I have some customers that only give me the theme of the party and let me have fun! The customers that I hate the most are the ones that tell you how to bake their cakes, how to decorate them (exactly where to put the stars and all) and almost ask you to be there when you make it.... Those are the ones that sometimes I almost tell them I'm booked!
