Re: Help this newbie please
I think the 14" would probably hang off the side of the cake. I'm not 100% sure about that, though. Just get out your pans and start playing around with stacking and configuring them. I think that's the best way to visualize what you are wanting to do.
As for boxes, I know that they sell them here...but I don't use them so I can't help you with pricing.
Good luck!

Re: Help this newbie please
Hi Caroleena!
Welcome to this wonderful forum!!
I didn't quite understand what you meant by "diagonal" so I went and stacked a 10" square and an 8" square on top of an 11" x 15" and the only one that fit was the 8" but I centered it as a diamond shape. Is this the information you're looking for?

B & G Paper Products - cake boxes, candy gift boxes, freezer paper, plastic tumblers, packaging boxes candy, aluminum tin pans, small plastic containers, cake boards, deli containers, paper bags manufacturer, butcher paper, paper shopping bags
is a great place to buy boxes you can purchase in different sizes and amounts and they are quick with shipping the items. If into the oven doesn't have the size you need check bgpaper I order from them all the time. Hope that helps.

Re: Help this newbie please
I have to tell you, cake box prices always blow me away. I just can't get over how expensive they are!
I buy mine at Sams. The 1/2 sheet size boxes are around $30 for 50 boxes w/lids and cake boards. They're heavy duty cardboard, not papery boxes and they have the clear lids that I love. They also have the clear plastic 1/4 sheet sets that are around $40 for 50.
I don't box tiered cakes and rarely make a round cake that isn't tiered so the sheet cake boxes are the only prices I'm familiar with.
When I made my first cake stacked like you're talking about I finally just cut out a set of paper squares the same size as my cake pans. Now when I want to do any offset cakes, I just lay the papers on top of each other to see what sizes I'll need to use. It's just easier for me than dragging out all the pans and stacking them.
