This is the price list I just created. I wish I could say there was some magical formula to it, but it was just something I felt comfortable with. I used to do a per serving calculation and I thought it was fair but found myself doubting whether my cakes were worth what it would cost. This is something that I send out to my customers now and they tell me what they want knowing what the price will be. It just works for me.
Cake Price List
for Birthday and Special Occasion Cakes

9 inch cake (serves 15-20 people) $55
10 inch cake (serves 25-30 people) $65
12 inch cake (serves 35-40 people) $80

For two-tiered cakes, the following cake sizes are also available:

6 inch cake (serves approximately 8 people) $35
8 inch cake (serves approximately 15 people) $45

Fresh fruit fillings cost $5 extra per cake
Fondant costs $10 extra per cake

When I perfect the fondant bow, I plan to charge $15-20 per bow and I don't do sculpted fondant or that would be extra as well. Wedding cakes aren't in my repertoir but that would have a different price list.
