Teacher appreciation
Well guys, teacher appreciation week is coming up! (it's always the first full week in May, btw) It's a good $$ maker that so many people forget about. As a former teacher I can tell you that they don't need any more mugs, Christmas ornaments, pictures, or other cutesy teacher things. They are nice, but if you get 25 (1 per kid) every year for just 10 years...UGHHH!
Anyway, I was thinking about what to make for my kids' teachers and I thought about something that I think would be a good marketing idea for all of us, and I thought I'd share. .gif)
I am going to make my sons' teachers each 7 cakes in a jar (thanks to whomever posted that) and put them in a beautiful basket. One sweet treat for each day of teacher appreciation week. All different flavors. Some with filling, some not. I will attach a tag to each with the cake flavor on one side and a personal "thank you" on the other. i.e. Chocolate Fantasia (front) Thank you Mrs. Smith for all the extra attention you give to my son (back). It is a take off on the flower bouquet. The parent comes up with the "thank you", you jar up the cakes and fillings, and everyone's happy! .gif)
Just a thought.....

Re: Teacher appreciation
I've made cookie bouquets! Those are always fun! Something I want to try and I might do it for teachers week, is the cupcake bouquets.
***Also a sure thing to push for Mothers day!

Amanda, it sound like a very good idea, but I don't know what you mean. Can you refer me to the post you are mentioning here?

Re: Teacher appreciation
Well, I can't for my life find the thread now. Of course! But there is someone who makes "cupcakes in a jar", and it's a take off on that.
You bake your cake, and let it cool. Then cut out rounds with a donut cutter (or something similar), put one round in a mason jar, then some filling or icing, another round of cake, and so on. It's probably two or three servings of cake (or one, if you're me!) all in one little jar. Fun, huh?
I hope that explained it ok....

OK? no... You explained perfectly. Now I know what you are talking about! I love the idea. I have to mention that my husband is a teacher, and he likes ( loves) coffee, but getting mugs gets old. This is something I'm sure any teacher will appreciate. So cute!
Amanda, I really appreciate you for taking the time to explain how it works. Many thanks!

Re: Teacher appreciation
No problem. .gif) I was a music teacher, so I have a whole box in my basement of music boxes, music note pads, music mugs....I treasure them because they came from my students, but I don't have any use for them. And I only taught for 4 years! My dad has been teaching for 30.....
I can't wait to do this. It's going to be a lot of work to do 7 different cakes and fillings for two teachers, but I look forward to the challenge.
If I ever open up shop I think they would be a good option as an alternative to sending flowers. People can send a basket of "cake in a jar" for Mother's day, Birthday, etc. But now I'm letting my imagination run amuk.....

Re: Teacher appreciation
What a cute idea!! And much easier to transport than a normal cake! My sister-in-law is a teacher, and I love teacher appreciation week, because she usually gets flowers from all of her students, and since she gets so overloaded with them, she gives some of them away! My sons teacher loves cakes and cookies, but she doesnt bake, so she loves when I bring things in to her!
