Default 3d tiger!

Has anyone ever made a 3d tiger cake.. If so, would you mind sharing some knowledge. I have an idea of what I'd do... at least I think I do. I just can't fathom how the head would stay on.. I want it to be all cake... Ideas.. please..

I made this one from the stand up bear. I don't know what kind of cakes you do but it's the only time I've made one and I got the idea from Wilton. Instead of making toothpick marks for the stripes, etc. I used the edible markers which was MUCH easier. I am lousy at buttercream but it was really cute in person. I would make the legs wider next time.

Hailey's cake 006 (2).jpg If the picture doesn't appear, look in my photos. There is also a painted one in Lindy Smith's Party animal but it's just a face. Good Luck!

Thanks elizw & Mommarivera. You could also try the lamb mold cake if you have one. We've had that pan in our family for 30 yrs or more and we only smeared icing on it until I took classes. I was amazed at the things people have made with it, cats cows, dogs, cradles. You can cut the nose off & make it face forward but that solves the problem with keeping the head on unless you wanted to do fondant.

i believe jazz2u just provided the perfect solution (and easiest). if you need more cake that what the lamb pan will give, just stack the tiger on another cake to make up the difference. just make sure you put some support under the tiger. the bottom tier could simply be green grass icing...easy and no smoothing!
