Need an idea

I just got called to do the teacher/staff appreciation cake for my son's elementary school. It has to be a 9X13 all BC.
I was thinking about a sheet of paper with the thank you message for the top, and green chalkboards with kid's drawings for the sides, but somehow that just doesn't seem right. It's not very colorful, and it's for the whole staff, so I don't necessarily want to put ALL the focus on the teachers.
I'm stuck. I want to make it something special without going totally overboard. I'd love to hear some ideas if y'all can help me.

how about a bus in butter cream transfer with kids faces in the windows, little books and pencils and stuff as a border?

What's a buttercream transfer? Is that like the candy melt chocolate transfer?

yes it is but with butter cream and frozen till you put it on the cake.

I still haven't tried one of those yet. They sound so time consuming to complete, I get worn out just thinking about it!

I put instructions on here on how to do the butter cream transfer. They seem pretty easy. I have a picture of a cake that I got off of CC that would be great for school. I am not sure how to get it on to here. I am using a MAC. I will see if my daughter can help me. thanks
