Banana Cream with Chocolate
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!
Ok, I decided to make another cake today. I had a french vanilla cake mix and a box of banana cream pudding, so I mixed the two together. I frosted it with chocolate buttercream, and WOW!!!!!!
I'm sure most of you have already made something like this, but it was a first for me, and I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!
I think it is my new favorite flavor of cake!
I decided that tomorrow, I'm going to make a white chocolate cheesecake cake with raspberry buttercream. I'm hoping it turns out just as well.

Ya, for someone looking to lose weight, this isn't the best hobby to take up! Oh well though, you can't take your body with ya when you die!!!

Re: Banana Cream with Chocolate
Ok, I'm pretty conservative when it comes to baking recipes, so I have a stupid question. Can you put any pudding mix into any box cake mix and have it come out? Do you have to add extra eggs or something? I can't believe I've never heard of this! I'm so out of the loop....

Amanda, I'm not sure, but I've just been in the experimental mode! I didn't add anything extra when I added the banana cream pudding mix. Don't know if I was supposed to or not, but it turned out really great anyway. It was also really moist.

Re: Banana Cream with Chocolate
Amanda, I usually put in 1 box of pudding mix and add extra oil, about 1/4 cup. I've tried the extra egg, but it diosn't seem to get it moist for me. I've also found that it also makes a difference what cake mix I use. I love the Duncan Heinz moist mix. Not a fan of Pillsbury or Betty Crocker.
I'ver tried chocolate with chocolate pudding, white mix with vanilla & french vanilla, and a couple of other flavors. They all turned out pretty good. Have used pudding in all my cakes since.

Re: Banana Cream with Chocolate
sounds yummy! everytime i have time to be in "experiment mode", i too tired from making cakes to do anything. that's why i love hearing from others about what they have tried.
one thing i did try as a filling....
chocolate ganache mixed with cherry preserves....chocolate covered cherries! it is soooo good!
