Default Help with turntables

Hi everyone,

I want to buy Wilton's round cast iron turntable which is 12in in diameter. How well does it work? Or should I rather buy the ateco tuntable or the new one by fat daddios? Thanks!

I don't have a turntable yet, so I will be anxiously watching for replies!

I haven't tried any of them, but honestly I never hear much good said about wilton products.

As for me, I went cheap. I found an old lazy susan at a garage sale for $1. It had the ugliest orange ceramic trays on it you've ever seen! They went straight in the garbage, but I've used the lazy susan for over a year now and it works great! It's round and huge so I can use it for sheet cakes too.

I've even covered it and used it as the base for a few cakes. People love being able to rotate the cake for some odd reason.

I use a $7 wooden one that I got from Ikea. I'm going back next month to get two more.

I have the wooden one from ikea too! which I use for larger cakes and sheet cakes. I find it rather low sometimes especially with sheet cakes for some reason. I've just purchased the new round one by fat daddio's and will let you all know how that works. Thanks!

Although more expensive than the other great economical suggestions from the other posts, I would recommend the Fat Daddio's turntable over the Ateco, about the same price, however, the Fat Daddio's is on ball bearings and turns smooth as butta.
