help! looking for aviation/plane cake ideas

Hi...I'm new at all this and have been asked to do a cake for a pilot with a plane/aviation theme. It also has to feed 75 people. I really need help thinking of a design and will be grateful for any ideas. Is a 14 x 22 sheet cake the best option or is a round cake better? They haven't specified anything in particular so I think she's leaving it up to me, but I'm not coming up with any ideas on my own. When I say "new", I mean this would be my first cake for $$! I'm actually not sure if I can do this or not....

Well, what do you feel comfortable doing? If sheet cakes are what you are best at, do that! I don't do a whole lot of sheet cakes, so I'm bad a designing them.
But, if you don't mind doing some tiers, how about a 3 tier? You could do each tier at a different height theme (ground, buildings, sky) and then have a little gumpaste airplane on a wire sticking out of the side of the top tier so that it looks like it's flying in the air! I know...I tend to go overboard sometimes... But I think it would be cute!!

Ace of Cakes did a cake a couple of episodes back
(I need to not watch so much tv!)
They made a 3-d airplane. Do you feel confident enough to tackle a 3-d cake like that?

If you are sticking with a sheet cake, can you do a buttercream transfer of a plane, or if the pilot works for a major airline, can you replicate their logo?

Thanks so much! I love the idea; I just don't know what I'm doing! I've got a little time to experiment; maybe I can try one and see how it goes. I haven't actually said yes to this lady yet because I'm just not sure I can do it. I mean I really haven't done cakes outside of classes yet! I'm reallly a newbie!!

Planes are not my favorite theme; but the simple design in the attached picture was not to hard to do.
