Lemon Curd

Does anyone know if the lemon curd you buy in the jar needs to be refridgerated once it's on a cake? It does say to refridgerate after opening on the bottle.

If I made my own, would I need to refridgerate that?

Also, does anyone have a list of good cake/filling/icing combinations? I always find myself lacking for ideas in that area.

I've used my own and store bought and I have never refrigerated the cake after.
In the jar I can see but in a cake it should be fine.
