Pricing?
Alright, I found out that walmart will do the edible images for $5-yay! Now, the cake I'm going to do is just a simple rectangular cake that will have the $1000 bill picture on top, that will be all that's on top. Then I'll do some kind of border on the top and bottom. I'm not exactly sure how big it's going to be, nowhere near a full sheet cake though-pretty small really, maybe 10" wide. So how much do you charge? I was thinking somewhere $10-$15 what do you think? Too much, too little? I have no idea!

Here are 2 pics of a 9x11 double layer filled with an edible image and just shell borders. It seems to be close to what your making, I think.
I charged 30 but she gave me 50.
I had issues with cracking frosting and it ticked me off so I almost told her I'd discount it due to looks!
Hope this helps.

Re: Pricing?
9x13 looks like a good size if they can make the picture that big! I guess I won't know until I go get the picture done though. Yeah it seems like a really simple cake. Your cake doesn't look as simple, the picture really helps make it look like more work than it was! I like the little music symbols around and the double borders!

Re: Pricing?
A 9x13, double layer with an edible image for $30???
That serves 48 party serving sizes...that's something like 60 cents a serving! And I thought my prices were low! I can't bake and make money at that rate!
For that cake, I'd be doing a 1/4 sheet (8x12), single layer, no filling, no torting. That gives 12 generous servings. My basic, rock bottom rate is $1.75 per serving. I also charge $10 per edible image so my price would be $31.
That's the lowest I'd ever go and that's only because the edible image makes the cake a breeze to do...no flowers etc to take up time.

Oh wow, I thought $15 would be too much! I'm still thinking a little on the lower end though since it's my first paid cake, I guess I'm not too confident lol I'm sure it will come out fine though!

Re: Pricing?
As long as you can do the job, it doesn't matter if it's your first one or if you've made a million of them! I admit though, when I first started, my prices were lower too.
At least keep yourself in line with Wal Mart and they wouldn't do an edible image for that price. The cheapest sheet cake you can get there is around $13.
I'm amazed you can get the image for $5. That's a great bargain. As I understand it, around here they charge an additional $10 to add on to a cake.
Good luck! I'm sure you'll do fine.

I should have added I did it at 24.00 off for a friend, she gave me 50.00 I would have charged 54.00 ordinarily.
Sorry for the confusions.

Re: Pricing?
No one around here will make you an edible image but they'll put one on a cake for you they make but that's all. It's almost standard at our kroger to get an image on your cake unless you snag a frozen birthday cake they have in the freezer.

Re: Pricing?
Alright the cake is for someone my husband works with so I told him to tell her $15, but he told her $20 (he thought 15 was not enough) and she said that was great, that even $25 would work so yay! I'm going to go get the picture this week sometime, the only thing they said they couldn't do was copywrited images-a dollar bill isn't a copywrited image is it??

Re: Pricing?
HHHHHMMMM, I dunno. They prolly were referring to animated characters, cartoons, and the such but I'd check to be sure.
