Default Baby shower cakes

I'd love to see some of your baby shower cakes! I have one to do for the end of the month, I'm thinking about doing a baby carriage. I haven't taken the 3rd wilton class for fondant yet so I'm kind of limited to what I can do now.

I have one that is very popular. It's actually an adaptation of a Wilton design. I've done it several different ways, and it's asked for a lot. It's on my website.

ps...the blanket has the name of the baby on it.

Heather, you should try working with fondant its really not that hard. I have been decorating for 2 years and just got to take my first Wilton class. We just had a Michael's open locally and there were no classes available until now. There are videos on the web about working with fondant. The Satin Ice website has a video satin fine foods.com.

I need to! My teacher was giving us tips during class 1 & 2 and I tried it once on an oval cake (may have been my problem) and it looked ok but then I had a big wrinkle in the side and couldn't get it out. Plus I used too much buttercream under it and the fondant was moving lol. I love how it looks though, I can't wait to do it!

Thanks for the kind words! I know I still have a lot to learn and tons of room for improvement.
Carilyn is right about the fondant, just play with it until you get the results you are looking for. I have never taken the fondant course. My teachers are TV, youtube, and experimentation! It really isn't hard to do....and it's kind of fun! I think I had to re-fondant one of my sons birthday cakes about 4 times once. It was frustrating at the time, but I really learned a lot from doing it over and over.
Let us know how it goes...and post pix!!

patience is a virtue of which I do not have much! I love to decorate but it is hard with a 2 year old, 3 year old and a 14 1/2 year old, not to mention hubby, our own business, 2 dogs and 2 cats!
But if I can practice on my own and really get it, anyone can!!!!
Dont be afraid to try anything, you can't fail if you keep trying only if you stop!

Amanda:I love your site!!! So many cute and gorgeously executed cakes!!!! Your web page is nicely set up and east to use also! KUDOS to you!
oh and them boys in the pic are adorable!

Thank you. You guys are very nice and very supportive.
The icing mustaches buy be a lot of time. I've only been doing this for a few years, so my stuff isn't as meticulous as I'd like. I only made my site so that I wouldn't have to carry around a portfolio. Putting up a website is kind of like public speaking in a stadium naked. It took me a long time to do.
Normally, I never would have put my site up on the forums. I don't like to draw attention to myself or my cakes, but I'd had a couple of glasses of wine that night....

well.......Missy Amanda is a wine talker hu? You know people who are normally quiet and off to themselves and then WHAM! A glass of wine and they are open books!!!! Just kidding with ya.
I have only been doing this for 1 year so I deff understand the need to practice and the frustration of things just not being exactly as finished and or as neat a presentation as we'd like.
