Picture on cakes?

I've seen them done but I don't know how to do them. Someone wants a cake with a $1,000 bill on it and I don't want to attempt that so I thought I could print out a big picture of one and put it on the cake. Is there a place that will print these out for you, can you order them or do you have to do them yourself?

I have an edible image system, so I'd do it myself.

You can check with your local bakeries that do edible images or even Wal Mart. There are lots of places that will do an edible image for you. Prices vary, but somewhere around $10 seems to be the going rate.

If you have time, you can order one online. There are several places that offer them. If it were me, I'd try and get it done locally. If you order one and it arrives damaged, it can be a pain to deal with.

Then you can also order them off ebay or from several online baking supply stores too.

How do you apply it? I normally practice the cakes I do ahead of time but I don't know that I'll be able to practice that so any tips would be great! Thank you again!

crumb coat your cake, then do what ever method you use to ice it and smooth it. Then apply edible pic where you want it and softly smooth out from the inside. That's it.
The icing needs to be "wet" just meaning it hasn't crusted.

I haven't tried an edible image yet. So many techniques to try yet!

or you could do a butter cream transfer or trace your image on edible rice paper also.

here is a lady who does these on ebay for a good price and does them fresh for you so they are very easy to work with. She's dependable and sweet too!
