Default A very busy weekend ahead...

After two slow weekend in a row, everything goes back to normal. I have a few cake orders this weekend. And, a few months ago, a lady asked me if I was able to make cakes for when there's a funeral. They make a meal for the family, and charge only for the costs. The other cake lady is usually making their cake, but sometimes she just can't, she's too busy. And since you never know when there's funeral, that's not something you plan ahead of time... I've said yes. As long as my costs are covered I don't mind giving my time as a donation. So she called this morning, there's a funeral on Saturday and they need a simple white cake for 80 people. I've added all my costs, and I'm charging only 35$ for it. That covers all mycosts (including electricicty) So my time is free for them. Usually I would have charged 160$ for that cake. So I think it's a good donation.

Also the grade school my son goes to ordered 300 molasses cookies for next Thursday, when the kids get back to school. Those cookies are what I called the "cheap" cookies, because are the ones that cost me the least $$ to make. So I've asked them for 50$, so that's around 0.17$ per little cookies, and I still make a good profit on them. I'm using my great grand-mother's recipe! I still remember going to her house and eating those cookies...mmmm they were good! She died when I was 6 y-o and I still can remember when I was grabbing handfuls of those cookies in her big bucket where she put them in.... I have her bucket in my living room, my grand-ma gave it to me a few years ago. It's a lot smaller than I remember though lol

And for next Thursday I have also a Baptism cake for a customer that is going to another town to have her dd Baptised. And when her son was baptised there, she hated the cake they bought over there. So she decided to bring the cake and show her family what a beautiful and great tasting cake was like! (that's not my words, it's hers) It's great to have those comments from customers. It's an ego boost that feels sooo good!!! So the cake will travel around 3 hours. It's my third cake going to that town...

And of course I have a few birthday cakes for this weekend and the next too! If every week I could have that many orders it would sooo great! But because it's not always like this I have to look for another job to make ends meet. Here they have troubles to find people to work that you can even make your own schedule. They so want to keep their employees that they'll do anything. So I'll be able to work Mondays to Thursdays and have my weekends for my cakes. So I'll try that. We have two years of this before we can breathe (just waiting for the car payment to be over) So if I have to work for 2 years, that's what I'll do....

Well I "shut my mouth" now, this post is getting very long, sorry

Wow You are going to be busy this weekend. I have not made a cake in a since the Wedding cake that I did. I have a big cake to do for the 16th and I was just in the getting ready to start working on it cake on Saterday when my Dad knocked on the door to tell me that my Grammy had passed away. I was not able to make the cake in the end. Thankfully the Cake was for a Close family Friend, she called me when mom told her and told me not to make the cake that she understook why I could not finnish it, and that I could make the cake for her next year. My next cake will not be until the 30th Aug.
