Default Carved frog cake - What pans should I use?

I'd like to bake a cake tonight and carve it into a frog cake. I don't know whether I should bake two 8x2" round cakes or one round cake and one bowl shaped cake.

I would think round and a bowl cake on top would work best...get more height and the proportions would seem more like what you would use for a frog. Sitting I am assuming.

Thanks. I went ahead and baked two 7x2" round cakes and one bowl shaped cake. Now I just need to figure out if I should tort the cake or only frost in between the layers. What do you think?

For a carved I would do a filling between the layers but leave the layers untorted for better support and stability for carving.
