Ultra-fine-point food color markers?
Is there such a thing, and if so, can anyone recommend a brand? I need to make playing cards out of fondant, and thought that markers would be the best thing to use. (Also, any suggestions as to how to make these, would be appreciated!)
Thanks so much!

Your easiest route would be the printed sheets... I can take a picture to the bakery and they will print them off for me. I don't have one of the printers. I have the food markers that have a nice point on them. I used them on my purple cake last weekend on the band around the base. They worked really slick. I purchased the set of colors and some extra black ones. I can't remember if I got them from ITO or from Global Sugar Arts. I think they both have them. I found them really easy to use. I will see if I can find the link and get back to you

It was from ITO... go to the food colors then click on gourmet markers. I was not sure if I would like them but you can write on cookies and fondant decorations. They are filled with food coloring.

Re: Ultra-fine-point food color markers?
Thanks for the response, Jeri.
How would I apply the edible image to the fondant "card"? Should I put a thin film of shortening on the fondant first, to make the image stick? Should I trim the paper after it's applied to the card, or cut it to size beforehand?
Thanks for the info about the markers, too -- I'll check into it. I have some Ateco markers, but they're not ultra-fine point.

Re: Ultra-fine-point food color markers?
I was searching for the markers you suggested, Jeri, and found these accidentally: FooDoodlers fine-line markers. I'm tempted to give them a try, since they're only $9 and the set comes with two black pens!
The cake isn't due for 6 weeks, so I have time to make both an edible image card and a hand-drawn one.
I just looked at your album . . . that purple cake with the lilies is GORGEOUS!!! I see where you did the drawing on the ribbon border. Very nice!

Re: Ultra-fine-point food color markers?
I have actually never used the images on fondant now that you said that... I was just thinking that I have used them on buttercream! You can use them on cookies too but you probably would need something for them to stick... if you put it onto fresh fondant maybe??? Anyone out there done this on fondant? For some reason, I am thinking they will stick to the fondant... I might be wrong... This site has some pretty good ideas on how to use the edible images...

The markers you found are probably close to the same thing. I assume they are all the same thing just a different manufacturer. I can't wait to use them on cookies. It will be fun!
Thanks for the compliments on the cake. I love doing weddings.

Re: Ultra-fine-point food color markers?
I stumbled onto this Fine-tip marker discussion on Cake Central. It sounds like the FooDoodlers Fine-Line markers will be a good investment.
Thanks again for your help, Jeri!

Re: Ultra-fine-point food color markers?
I've made cards before. I just rolled out gum paste really thin and traced the shape of an actual playing card w/ an exacto knife. I drew on the design w/ food coloring markers after they dried. The only advice I have is to make sure there's no powdered sugar or corn starch on them when you draw on the designs. It makes the food coloring run in funny ways.
I attached a picture of the cake I made. The jack was a real card. The cake was for a guy named Jack, so I thought it would be cute, but I didn't think I would be able to make the jack look right. I made the rest of the cards on the cake. The cards on the table around the cake are real as well.

Great idea! The gumpaste would be easier to draw on. The markers do dig into the fondant if you are not careful. I am wondering if the sheets can be used on fondant now!

I've never used the sheets before. Is moisture needed to transfer the image?
