Exclamation HELP!! Need to fix white cake recipe

Hi everyone. I'm baking a wedding cake for monday. Somehow my white cakes are not turning out correct. I've tried white fluffy cake from epicurious.com and another moist white cake from kitchenlink.com (Recipelink.com - Message Boards) and I don't like neither one of them. The white fluffy cake is so dense and heavy and tastes just like a piece of bread with buttercream on top. The moist cake doesn't rise and is kind of gooie (sp?) inside and heavy as well. Does anyone has a recipe for white cake that would be moist enough, rise a lot and light and fluffy at the same time.

PLEASE HELP, i rebaked my 12" and 16" cakes twice already, wasted tons of ingridients and need to finish them today.
I know I can count on you girls. Just don't send me to the recipe topic, I've been there already.
Amanda, 2sdae, Jazz2U. laura from TX, pootchi, puzzlegut, mona1949, ladyDZA, cakebaker, ironbaker anyone please help!!!!!!

I wish I could help you, but I'm strictly a box mix baker especially for white cakes! They hold up well, are just sweet enough and they don't mess up ever!

Okay... I'll give you the one that 2sdae recommended to me! The WASC cake. It's white, but turns a little more beige when cooked *at least mine did haha*. It does bake up more densely than a boxed mix bc it's stuff added to box mix, so it will taste more dense and heavy, but was still moist and soooooo good!! I will PM it to you!

Thanks LadyDZA, but i don't have any box mixes at home, I always do it old-tradition way from scratch, and something was just not working. So,,, i'm on my 5th recipe and it seems to work, I substituted sour cream with buttermilk and added baking soda in buttermilk, let it rise for a bit and added to the batter at the end. it seemed to work... cross my fings and hope to have pics for you on 2sdae (a day of a week, wink wink).

What a pain, I've been there. I hope the last one works for you! Buttermilk is a good addition.

I usually use this I found on CC a few years ago:

Classic White Cake II CakeCentral.com

This one comes highly recommended but I've yet to try it. It's listed as a coconute cake but I hear many use it as their white cake.

Coconut Layer Cake Recipe at Epicurious.com

GOOD LUCK!

Rose's white chocolate whisper is awesome! Another goody.

This is stuck in my head now:

"I will gladly pay you 2sdae for a hamburger today..."

Any popeye fans out there? lol
