Default Ceramic Dish for Cake Making

I have a ceramic dish that I am wanting to bake a cake in and not sure what the temperature should be. I was wanting to make a tub cake for my sisters birthday. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I've heard of using a Pyrex dish can't remember the temperature though. I know some of bathtub cakes on CC were done by using a loaf pan. Maybe you could do a search there if someone one on here doesn't have an idea.
PS. I gave my friend the cake lady info. thanks again!

well I would try it at a lower temp, 300 maybe even, and use the cake strips or wet towel method to help the baking along too.
I have used pottery bowls before with great success this way.

Before I began to be really interested in cake making and buying tons of cake pans, when I wanted to bake a cake not in a round shape, I was baking it in my ceramic lasagna pan. And it worked great, but I lowered the temp to 300 degrees. Never used baking strips or wet towels (because I've never heard about them, then) Just watch it carefully to make sure you don't over bake....

keep in mind even after you take them out of the oven they are so hot and hold heat so well they can continue to cook some what even after being removed from oven.
