Default Tips for safe Online Shopping

Below listed are a few tips to make this process a safe and simple experience.

• Shop early – With the easy selection process online, sales in peek season is high and there runs a risk of the product running out. Therefore it is better if you place your order well in advance in such seasons.
• There are some stores that provide free shipping on a purchase over a specified amount. Therefore keep track of such splendid offers if available and make the most of it.
• Look out for bargain offers online. A slight in depth search is sure to find you mind-boggling offers.
• Make sure you never disclose off you password to anyone else.
• It is safe to shop with the company that has disclosed its telephone number and contact address. A postcard number alone is not satisfactory enough as it would be difficult to track down the company in case of any fraudulent activity.
• A print copy of the purchase order and the confirmation number should be taken for the records.
• Prior arrangements should be made with the company if the goods you purchased would arrive only after thirty days of placing the order.
• Your social security number, mother’s maiden name, your email id and other such personal information should not be disclosed off to the company unless you receive proper, satisfactory explanations from the company.
• Be clear with the security procedure and the privacy policy of the company. In case you don’t find them in the site ask the company to mail them to you promptly.
• It is always safe to pay through your credit card or other charge cards instead of cash or cheque.
• Well-known companies are the safest place to shop.

You should also always look for "https://" rather than just "http://" before entering your credit card info, and the little padlock, so that you are sure to be entering your private information on a secure site.

I'm not sure that shopping earlier is "safer" per se, but you might find a better selection if you're shopping at a place like macys doing a one-day sale or something.

If you want to find a better deal or a coupon code for what you're looking for, go to www.retailmenot.com and type in the name of the site you're shopping; if there are any deals to be had, they will be posted here.

The only thing I compleletely disagree with is the word ALWAYS in the sentence saying that it is always safe to shop with a credit card----I'm sure that people who have had their identity or credit card number stolen would COMPLETELY disagree.

I have no problem shopping with lesser known companies, so long as they check out, and are not shady looking. Sites that have crappy websites that look like they were put together by a 15 year old probably were LOL. If you put the companies name into google with the word "scam" behind it and pages of complaints come up, don't shop there ....Besides that, it's usually the more well-known companies that get hacked and people have their credit card info stolen from where they've stored it!

Thanks for the information. I am going to try doing both. I've been on the internet since 1995 and have never had any problems so far. My daughter purchased some software off of EBAY for her Mac and when she received it, it was a not a genuine copy. She had paid through PayPal so they refunded her money.

Thanks for the tips. I like to buy from Amazon especially since they offer free shipping on many of their items if the order is over $25.

Great points... shopping on the internet can be a bit scary sometimes! You really need to keep tabs on your credit card and know where you have spent what.
