Unhappy He doesnt get it!!!!

..well I ordered a total of 300 dollars worth of stuff for cakes.
Now 2 are my fair entries..so I need some special stuff I didnt have, mold inhibitor, acetate sheets and such. dusts you know the drill.
Plus I did order 2 10 # buckets of fondirific for my brothers and sil cakes too.
So I spent a lot. I know. But in my defense he did say what ever you need for the fair stuff go get it. And the sil and mil cakes I do for free of course...it is his mother and sister which he forgot about their birthdays...and of course my brother wont pay for his birthday cake either...who would dare ask that?

But I get the money lecture, the mad looks and the"You wouldnt be able to cancel anything you ordered could you?" quote!

I know I am spoiled and my hubby would and does give me almost anything I ask for but geesh, I didnt freak when his 1,200.00 mixer for his music studio came in, or when he loaned out a pair of cdj equipment to a friend for a party and got them back not in proper working order!

*SIGHS* I guess I need to win the state lottery hu?
Thanks for letting a peeved decorator whine for awhile!

That's a man for ya!! I think for a guy, it's the thought of spending that much on something that's going to be EATEN, so it doesn't seem worth it for them.

But at least you got your stuff---you're smart--you order it BEFORE you tell him the total. I ask first and then get that *sigh* followed by a "Do you really NEED all this stuff?" (Which is totally usually my cue to say no and then just not buy anything. Guilt tripping at it's finest LOL.)

So it's totally not just you, 2sdae!!

Don't feel bad! Just tell him you'll be more aware for the next couple months....and then the next time he forgets to get something back or makes a big purchase for his toys, make hot dogs for dinner every night for 3 weeks. You know, to save money so that he can have the things he wants.

Dh is always complaining about the grocery bill He always says, where did all the money went? I usually answer: in your tummy!!! geez.... Men and stuff that ends up eaten, it doesn't go together money wise... because men love to eat, but you just can't tell them how much you paid for it tsk tsk

My husband is pretty patient with my cake stuff... he never sees my bills so I am lucky there! And when the boxes arrive... he has no idea how many dollars can be in one small box! I am foutunate enough that I make enough off my cakes to cover the cost of them all plus all my extra goodies that I want. The cake I did last weekend would have been around $450 but I only charged them $100 since she has been a close friend forever and I work with him at school. I don't always give those discounts but they are a sweet couple and that was my wedding gift to them. The cost of the cake was covered and everyone was thrilled.

When he complains is about my other summer hobby... my yard & garden! oooooo.... there are thousands of dollars out there... but over the years I have figured out which plants return each year and the only thing I plant that does not return is my petunia pots. I love the color. I can walk out onto my patio in the evening or early morning and the scent from the roses is intoxicating. I love my flowers too!!! We have this 1/2 acre yard that is a ton of work but we sure get lots of compliments.... hubby HATES yardwork so he grumbles a ton!!!
Here are some pix of my back patio, and front yard. They aren't real great the sun was not in the best spot but gives you an idea of my loves!!!

Wow, your garden is fabulous! Can you come and help me with mine??
We've been here only for one year, but there's already some flowers around, and the lady that was here before us took good care of them. IT's not like I want it yet, but soon my garden will be like in my dreams! DD planted some sunflowers this spring. They're growing, Can't wait to see their giant flowers in the yard! Almost there!
Because of mother natures' fun with rain this year, we're 1 month behind for all the plant growing thing
