Pootchi, those are great cakes! Of course I had to look at the tiered one again after you mentioned the tilting & really had to look for it. I'm sure few noticed. Whew! You have been busy! You better come up for air to get the flour & sugar out of your lungs.

Actually I took the picture on a side that the tilting didn't show but from the other side it was looking like the Tower of Pisa....

Your cakes are wonderful! How long did it take you to do the tiered cake and the fish cake? Do you do a certain amount of cakes each week? Or, as your orders come? Keep posting I need all the inspiriation possible.

Hi alsgal,
for my fish cake just the decorating took me around 1½hour. for the tier cake I can't remember but I think it's around 3 hours for the decorating, including making the flowers. I take orders are they go, so some weeks I don't do cakes at all and some other weekends I can make around 10 cakes in my weekend. We have a really small town and we're 2 cake decorators here, She's been here for almost 30 years, so before I can do as many cakes as her it'll take some time, people need to learn to know me... But I'm the only one working with fondant so that's a plus for me!

Wow that is a ton of cakes! Can't wait to see more! You must work pretty fast. I think it would take me longer to do those....but i do a lot of ho-humming and stare at my cakes to decide what to do with it!!! ha ha

OMG K_ann!! I do the same thing!!!! I smoke toooo much when I'm making a cake because I'm thinking what am I going to do next and how am I going to get that done! I have my biggest cake yet in a few weeks. Luckily, I had time to practice on a small cake last week so I worked out the details. Each side of the cake was different. I played with molds, etc. I must say I've gotten some of my best ideas on the back porch though.

I am totally in love with your adorable fish cake. The texture and coloring is right on the money! Just awesome.
