Default Sweetex skyrocketing!

I just recently got a new 50# box of Sweetex. The last time I got it was about 2 years. I got it through Gordon Food Services (GFS). They charged $62 for it, but I was able to get our local grocery store to order it through GFS and they only charged me $58. But when I had the grocery store order it through GFS again, the price was $95!!! I couldn't believe that the price jumped that high. Even if I had ordered it directly through GFS, it would have been $89. I guess the next time I sell a cake, I'm going to have to raise my prices by a lot.

Count yourself lucky you can get it without having to pay shipping! There's just nowhere locally I can get hi ratio so I get to add another $30 onto the price.

I raised my prices not too long ago and if things continue to go up, I'm going to have to do it again.

I suppose so. But I'm still quite shocked that it almost doubled in price. I figured the cost would have gone up a little bit, but not that much. I guess I won't hesitate to charge more. Although I'm sure pleanty of people around here would bulk at that.

I feel your pain!

I buy BakeMark brand hi-ratio shortening because there's a local distributor here in Houston. Several months ago, a 50# box cost $28. One month ago, I paid $46 for the same product. *Sigh*

Seems like everything costs more! The shipping too... And as all things happen, we have to charge more to keep afloat. It doesn't look like there is any end in sight to all this either. Remember the good old days when you could buy 4 loaves of bread for a buck? Or a gallon of gas for .39 cents? Wow... where will it all end?
