The Gown!!!

Since you guys are all helping me so much with the cake for the wedding, I thought I'd show you guys what my sister and I did tonight. We had a "shopping trip"; online of course since she's 14 hours away!! We picked out a wedding gown for my Grandma!! My sister actually bought the gown since I'm doing the cake; we shopped for hours, both on Instant Messenger going back and forth til we found THE ONE.

Here it is! My MawMaw is going to look like such a queen!! Oh, and we arent telling her about it; we're just letting her get it in the mail and open it up LOL. I made my sister put a card in saying "We think you will look like the Queen you are in this on your special day. Love, Jenna." ...I am always sending things to my grandma, and I knew that she'd open it and automatically think I'd done it, and I wanted to be sure my sister got the credit for this one!

Edited to add: When we asked my grandma if she'd be wearing a wedding gown, she got so excited and said maybe, then said "Well, no, I have some nice dresses I can wear again. Money's been not as free lately with everything going on. So, I will go through my closet and see what I want to wear again!! I know I have something that will do!"... So we thought this would be a nice surprise!

They've been married like 50 years haha; they've just never had a formal ceremony! They got married in a courthouse with one witness--we thought this would be special for them, and to take their minds off of the scary stuff going on lately, give them something to look forward to! We are all So excited about this!!

We went through so many, trying to take into account her body type and what she'd be comfortable in. I hope it fits right, the site we found it had reviews on it, and it said it fit true to size. If it doesnt, she's an extremely talented seamstress and can alter it herself!! Now we are going to get my Pawpaw a new tie so that he feels like he's getting something spiffy out of the deal too!

We decided on dinner too: Prime rib, asparagus and wild rice. mmmm can't wait!

We are up in the air about the date right now--my mama has booked the lodge and a cabin at the lake for 2 dates, and we will cancel whichever one we don't need. It will just depend on how well her chemo worked this go-round. If everything goes perfectly, it will be in early August. If she has to do another round, it will be the end of September. It's just a wait-and-see type thing, but we will know in July when it is.

The only thing my sister and I wish is that we could be there to see her face when she opens up that gown!! My sister sees her almost every other day bc she and my Mama live only 15 minutes away, but we are just thinking she's going to be SO FUNNY when she opens that--first of all, she's gonna be like "What in the world?"--and she's gonna be scared she accidentally ordered something. Then she's gonna be like, "Carrie must have sent me something." Then when she reads the card she's gonna be even more surprised because it's from my little sister, and when she sees what it IS. It's just gonna be a Kodak moment that we will miss, but we can imagine her expression and it's hilarious!
