A new toy
I had seen the the crayola cutter around and kind of drooled over it. My mom bought it for me for Christmas. I finaly got a chance to use it for a project. I used it to cut out a stencil for a cake. Sooooooooooooooooo much easier than an Exacto knife or scissors. I don't know if anyone else has seen or used this (or posted anything about it), but check it out! I find it kind of handy.

Hi, I' m always looking for things to incorporate in cake decorating, things we can adapt to make our job easier... this sound like that. I will look into it!
Thanks for sharing.

Re: A new toy
I saw this a while ago, but forgot all about it. Looks like you can get very creative. I think I'll check it out. What have you done with it so far?

This tool is cool. I will have to look into it. I have been looking at the cricut machine. It is really neat and I could use it for scrapbooking too. It is kind of spendy but does a ton... Does anyone have one? I'd like to find out if it is worth the investment.

I've used it to make mostly paper projects w/ my kids, but I made a flame stencil and a skull stencil for a b-day cake. I started to use an exacto, but then remembered about the cutter. It's like using a pencil and makes the design perferated so that you can just pop it out. I used Maite's flame design for inspiration for it (Thanks Maite!).
The cake went totally crooked and I had major issues w/ it, but I think the flames came out ok.

I thought the crookedness of you cake was intended to make the flames look real! How funny that a mistake can look to be on purpose to someone else!!!
I am thinking about getting the cricut. I need to do some scrapbooking and it looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for the input!

I make my stencils in the acetate paper for the overhead projector machine... after using it for class I thought they were perfect for that purpose, and they work very well; but the cutting part after doing a drawing of the flames, is a real pain. I just did a 3 tiers cake this pass week, and I realized it's time to make new stincels... I wish I could have your new toy.

That looks very cool!! I made a Harley cake last year and I wish I could have done that. I ended up doing yellow and red - flame shaped chocolate transfers and it didn't look very good I like how yours came out!
