Re: So what x-mas/celebration cake are you making?
I made my last holiday cake this past weekend. I'm not taking any more orders until after Christmas and the honest truth is none of us want cake around here!
I've made cakes for so long, that I can't stand the thought of eating one and now it's gotten to the point that I've tested out my family until they're tired of it too.
I bake cakes, I hate cakes... huh?
Candy and cookies...those we'll eat and I'll be doing some this week, but no cake for us!

Re: So what x-mas/celebration cake are you making?
I bake for my husband's co-workers every year. This year they are each getting a box containing:
Chocolate covered pretzles
Spritz cookies
Peanutbutter cookies
Cocoa crinkle cookies w/ crushed candy canes on top
Gingerbread snowflakes
Raspberry coconut bars
and maybe lofthouse cookies....Those recipes look really good
I have been in the kitchen for two days so far. Not much longer, everything is coming along pretty well. My first batch of Peanut Butter cookies didn't have any sugar in them. I was concentrating on a movie instead of my work It's a good thing I tasted them first!! .gif)
Every year I try out new recipes and their goodie boxes are different. I'm so glad I found this site! It's too late for this year, but next year rolled buttercream icing and lofthouse cookies will be in the boxes!

Wow! I've baked my last cake for the year (I Hope). Cookies for your husband's coworkers sounds like a great idea! I've never thought to do that.

It's one of the two things we do for them every year. We throw a bbq in the summer (last year I made bbq ribs and fried chicken), and cookies at Christmas. They are such great people. They treat him like gold. Since I stay at home with the three boys, we can't afford to give everyone a decent present, but we can at least give them something homemade with love. .gif)

mmmm, snickerdoodles, buckeyes, snowman cake x2, maybe fudge (if i can find a good recipe for vanilla and peanut butter), thinking about doing the chocolate covered cherries that look like mice, my list keeps growing though.
What are the lofthouse cookies??? I'm curious.

They are those softy round cookies with a smear of icing you see in the grocery stores and walmarts in clear packages usually in the deli area or at end of aisles. They always have them for holidays and in between too!

Re: So what x-mas/celebration cake are you making?
I have already sent a bunch of items with my husband to take to work with him. The men had already been asking when was I going to start making my candy. I make the hard candy, coconut bonbons, peppermint patties, buckeyes, cookies, chocolate suckers and cakes. Sometimes I wonder what have I gotten myself into
