Default Gel Paste Colors

Has anyone tried the gel paste colors that intotheoven carries? I use the Wilton ones now, but I often get dark colored dots in my buttercream after it has sat a while, no matter how much I mix! I'm interested to know if there is something better out there.
Thanks!
Amanda

Amanda,
You would be much happier with the AmeriColor gel pastes. I'm a little biased of course, so I'll let others speak louder.

The americolor is really good you dont have to use as much as you would have of the wilton brand colors. Besides you can get the .75 oz and try the colors for yourself to see what you think. I really like them way better then the wilton. Plus you dont have to use toothpicks and such to get your colors out. All you do is flip the top and squeeze it's wayyyyyyyyyy better then the wiltons.

Thanks for the reviews! I sooooo hate the toothpicks! I always end up with more color on me than in my icing! I just have so many Wilton colors, I've avoided having to replace them all. But, based on your recommendations I think I'll give the Americolor gels a shot!

I know that feeling with having more on me then in my icing. I would be scrubbing it seem forever trying to get the colors off my hands and I would end up with it on my clothes some how

Are there any certain Americolor colors that you love, or use the most of? I was looking at which ones to try out, and there are so many!!! It was a little overwhelming, but in a good way! I'm very excited to try them.

Since I use more red and black I ordered the 4.5 ounces of those but as far as the others I ordered the .75 oz to try. You could probably try to order some of the main colors you use the most or what you are needing right now. Just try a few to see what you think and go from there with them.

I'd go for the primary colors first. You can always mix to get the color you want that way.

Along with a lot of other stuff, Wilton colors are not that great. I have a ton of them both paste and gel and I really don't like them. Years ago, Wilton was just about all that was available to home bakers....not anymore!

My thought exactly......I use all americolor unless it's something I have in wiltons that I just dont wanna throw out so I'll use that until gone then replace with americolor. I use their airbrush colors as well too!

I ordered some Americolor gels this morning. I tried to stay up late to make the order and qualify for the 12 days of x-mas surprise, but I wimped out at 11:15pm last night. I can't wait to get them and try them out! No More Toothpicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also ordered a Fat Daddios pan, any opinions on those? I'd love to hear what you guys think!
