Large wall oven?
I am embarking on a kitchen remodel, and am interested in finding a wall oven large enough for my largest cake pans - 12x18 rectangular and 16 inch round. Any recommendations?

Viking would be nice. . . .
Another question: gas vs. electric, convection or no? My mom had a gas oven, so that's what I learned with, but I've been using electric for a long time.

Ah...viking...someday!
I like gas better than electric, but not for baking cakes.
I have a convection oven and it may just be my oven, but convection doesn't work well in baking cakes or anything that rises. It's great for roasting, but it just bakes uneven and makes a tougher crust on baked goods.
That's probably not true on the higher end ovens....like Viking...sigh..

Well, I prefer the electric myself, just because it seems I bake better and the heat seems to stay more regulated for me. JMHO!
I wouldn't mind having a convection oven as long as it is the kind you can use either the regular oven mode or convection mode.
I also prefer viking but I like big ol diamonds rather than big ol concrete rocks too!!!!
On my budget at the moment, it's all concrete here!!!!

Re: Large wall oven?
That's how mine works..you can switch from convection to regular baking. It does make a prime rib roast to die for...not that we get prime rib all that often. It's like buying gold!

Re: Large wall oven?
I use gas, mainly because I do a lot of regular cooking as well and I love having the adjustable flame. But, I don't think one is better than the other. I think it's all what you get used to, and what you like. Whichever you decide, I think all ovens are a little different and you will have to figure out the nuances on it to get the best out of it.
Just my opinion!
