Can I put a FBCT on a Texas sheetcake?
Somebody wants me to make a Texas sheet cake with a frozen buttercream transfer of the Harley Davidson logo on it. I'm just wondering how well this would work. I haven't made the Texas sheet cake before, but it's suppose to be baked in a cookie sheet and at 350 degrees. I'm worried that there'll be a hump in the cake and the FBCT won't look right or break.

what effect is the cookie sheet there for? Thinness? If so just use a large sheet pan less batter and then use your flower nails and wet strips for the sides of pan and you should be able to make a flat cake and the fbct should be fine. I am not all that familiar with this texas sheet cake though, do tell!

Re: Can I put a FBCT on a Texas sheetcake?
The specific recipe says to bake it in a cookie sheet. There are several "sheet cake" recipes that say to bake the cake in a cookie sheet. I assume that it would be okay to lower the tempurature for this cake in order to help reduce the bulge, correct? So instead of 350, I would bake it at 325 for a few minutes longer.

Re: Can I put a FBCT on a Texas sheetcake?
Thanks.
The person that wants me to make the cake is for a 50th surprise b-day party. I guess they are pretty insistent on having a Texas sheetcake, but they also wanted it to be motorcycle themed. I think it'll look dumb, but oh well. And I guess they are also getting a "fancy cake" for the party. I was a bit insulted that they didn't come to me to make something like that. But I suppose considering that they more then likely wouldn't have paid me to make a really big cake (as I'm not getting paid for the sheet cake either), I guess they can buy this so-called "fancy cake". I can't wait to try a piece of the "fancy cake" so I can spit it out and say how terrible it is

If it gets a hump in it, just level it off like you would any other cake.

I suppose I can try to level it. Hopefully if I lower the temperature, that'll help reduce a hump.

LOL, don't I know it. Like I said, I was insulted because I've been making cakes for this family for several years (and free of charge). And when I heard that they were going to get a "fancy cake", it just peeved me. But I guess it's for the best anyway, since I'll probably have a couple of other cakes to do that weekend anyway. That way I can focus more on them.
