Default Courage the Cowardly Dog

Good day, I need help!!!!

My son's b-day is a week from Monday and he has requested a Courage the Cowardly Dog cake...it's a cartoon character. I'm having a brain freeze on what to do and there certainly aren't any ideas out there for a similar cake...wondering if I might paint the dog on the cake...but haven't done a painted cake before. Thought of modeling the characters, but haven't ever done that either. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance.

Could you carve the shape of the dog out of a sheet cake, and then decorate with buttercream or fondant? I'm thinking you could probably print a big enough picture off of the internet that you could cut out and use as a template to carve your shape.

Or, you could try doing a buttercream transfer. If you need the instructions for that, I believe they are posted here, but if not, I know they have them at CC.

Sorry I can't think of anything else right now. Good Luck!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll look into the buttercream transfer. I'm thinking I might just get some edible markers and create him in 2-d on top. He is a cartoon character and will look cartoon-y that way. Then just decorate the cake with various borders and colors. We'll see!

That sounds good also! Good luck with whatever you choose, and make sure to show us pictures when it's all done.

Maybe you can find a photo online and do a frozen buttercream transfer and place it on top of the cake.
