Question about silver Dragees

I do not know that much about the dragees and was needing some help. There is a lady wanting them on a wedding cake, I was wondering are they only for decoration and have to be removed before eaten? Or do they make them to where they can be eaten. I notice the site store sells them listed under food items. I was curious as to if they can be eaten or not.Thanks in advance for the help.

Dragees (pronounced "Dra-jeys") are those little metallic balls that we all remember on holiday cookies. They are safe to eat, but should be removed before serving because of the real metal coating. (That means they won't hurt you if you eat them, they do have a sugar center, it's just that the FDA has recommended that they are for decorative use only, and they are technically not a food item). They do add a beautiful and elegant look to wedding cakes, birthday cakes and holiday items.
Please note* Dragees have been banned in the state of California and it is illegal for us to ship them there. If you place an order to be shipped to California, the dragees will be omitted from your order and you will not be charged for the dragees.

I have used them a lot! In my experience I tell people FDA says to not eat them....but who hasn't eaten a handful at least in their lifetime!!! You'd have to guzzle down about 4 or 5 pounds before they'd make ya sick. And even then it would prolly be from eating that much of anything!
But I do let customers know just the same.
